Information Technology’s Research Computing, in partnership with the University of Florida, and Florida State received a grant through the New Florida Initiative program of the Board of Governors. This initiative is a multi-year endeavor that, “… will ensure that Florida’s knowledge and innovation economy is sustained by high-technology, high-wage jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (or “STEM”).”
The grant will provide funding for the Sunshine Grid: Florida’s Research and Education Cyberinfrastructure. This project will begin the process of creating a coherent core infrastructure for the state of Florida to promote and support research and education.
